I quite enjoyed this recent episode! (s2, e02) In fact, i found it had more than adequate humor, drama, and character development.
As far as the humor went, one line in particular stands out in my mind, "Oh, Mario. If only I could control everyone the way I control you... Hop, you little plumber. Hop. Hop! HOP!" and now that I think about it, i loved Sheldon's analysis of comics' usage of doctorate-level characters for typical villains. I also can't forget the startling revelation of Koothrappali's risque comic-con encounter with a "green orion slave girl." Most of us have heard the same story from one of our friends... except we would probably need to change the words "comic-con" to "bar" and "green orion slave girl" with "beautiful woman." One last thing, "I could have handled our kids being genetically unable to eat ice cream, or get a good view of a parade; but this? This [string theory] is a deal breaker."
It may just be my stereotypical male bias, but this episode had enough drama for me. I mean, Leonard dating Leslie Winkle was pretty big... until she popped the question about kids. On their first date as a couple. And i thought SHELDON was a bit weird. ;) add in penny bringing yet another guy home, and it mixes things up for Penny and Lenord. Penord? i'll go with that...
My absolute favorite part of this episode would probably have to do with Penny's character development. It was only for a moment, but I beamed when Penny was relating the paradox of Shrodinger's cat. I may be reading too much into this, but I think it is a definite sign that she actually ENJOYS listening to and learning from the guys. I also believe it's a very plausible sign that she finds intelligence endearing. possibly sexy. But, if it's neither of the two, then at the very least it shows that Penny is definitely NOT the same blonde we saw move in durring the pilot.
