Tom Cruise 'agrees to Mission 4'
Cruise has starred as agent Ethan Hunt in all three Mission: Impossible films
Tom Cruise has agreed to a fourth Mission: Impossible movie, according to industry newspaper Hollywood Reporter.
The Hollywood star will co-produce the film with JJ Abrams, who directed him in the third instalment of the franchise based on the US TV series.
It is thought Abrams will not decide whether to direct the new movie until after he sees a finished script.
The film has a potential release date of 2011. Cruise has not said whether he will reprise the role of Ethan Hunt.
The had been doubts over Cruise's future in the franchise after he fell out with movie studio Paramount three years ago.
But Sumner Redstone, the chairman of Paramount's parent company Viacom, said last year he would not oppose Cruise being cast, describing him as "a great actor and a good friend".
Abrams is currently in the process of working on a sequel to his reboot of Star Trek, while Cruise recently signed on to an untitled film alongside Cameron Diaz.
Mission: Impossible 3 grossed $395m (£241m) worldwide in 2006.
