Isaiah Washington: Grey's Treatment of Brooke Smith Is "Disgusting"

Former Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington, who was publicly derided and ultimately fired from the series after making a homophobic slur at gay costar T.R. Knight, is now chiming in on the show's treatment of the recently axed Brooke Smith and her lesbian character.

"I looked at a brilliant actress, whom I have adored since I first saw her in Silence of the Lambs," Washington says in the Nov. 17 issue of TV Guide. "For her to be treated this way, I find very interesting."

i agree. this whole thing was BEYOND inappropriate. i find the situation extremely offensive honestly... and poor Brooke Smith was just thrown out like yesterday's trash. An accomplished actess who was doing a marvelous job deserves better than to be treated like that, and the LGBT community deserves better than to just be dismissed from a show like that, especially after GLAAD was just singing ABC's praises. Absolute disrespect! I'm disgusted. i don' t even know if i can watch this show anymore, and i've been a fan for years.

Interesting, I see your point and hear where you are coming from but I don't think it had much to do with her character's sexuality. The people who run the show WRITE the show, if they didn't like the lesbian storyline then they could have just written a script that Erica and Callie figured out that they were not gay. Callie has been struggling with it anyway. And we all need to remember Joe, the bartender, he is gay and he is still on the show (not as much as we'd all like but still there). It is unfortunate that Brooke Smith got fired just like that but I don't think we can blame it on her CHARACTER'S sexual orientation. Yes she is a brilliant actor and yes she deserved MUCH better treatment than she received, but that is Hollywood and that is how the game works unfortunately... and being the AMAZING actor that she is I am sure she will bounce back with a vengeance, GO BROOKE!!!

I would like to see something of more substance from ABC themselves, but i personally was never a fan of erica hahn on the show, and have never been a fan of smith's acting, so i'm choosing to believe that that is the reason for ABC 'letting her go', rather than the lesbian storylinei'm in no way saying what they've done is justified, but i think maybe we shouldn't jump to the conclusion that is was because of the lesbian storyline, i mean they did get rid of isaiah...
