The Dollhouse Ending: Epitaph Two

The ending was actually very good, just as I'd hoped. The idea that Topher sacrificed himself for undoing all the wrongs which were mostly his fault was perfect. His character had grown the most. And its not a surprise coz Joss Whedon is a genius in long term developments of characters. Best part of the Epitaph Two for me was when Echo cried and screamed at Sierra acknowledging Paul's death... I cant remember Eliza Dushku ever playing such part, she was amazing at it, it was very nice to see her that way and not as a tough cool girl for once. I liked how Adelle turned out eventually too, she became like a mother of some sort to all of them.

One thing I didn't quite get is this: did Echo imprint herself with both her and Paul? Can somebody please clear that up for me? and your thoughts on the ending too)

PS: Joss Whedon had proved once again that he's a genius at everything he does.

I think she imprinted his brain into her own brain so that they could be together in her mind. I was kinda annoyed at how they killed him, I wish they had him go out fighting instead of being randomly shot, but oh well, it was a very satisfying finale

I kinda liked the way he was killed, it was -dare I say it- kinda realistic. He had as much chance of being shot as anyone else, especially wandering over to another char who, seconds before, had been shot. At least it wasn't the drawn out "love interest slowly dies in main chars arms, declairs undying love" blah blah blah...

wombatzo is right echo imprinted paul inside of her brain. Remember she is the only person who can have multiple imprints at once.

Except Alpha ......... When Paul died and then we see Alpha, I thought that Echo would end up with him because, if I remember correctly he imprinted himself at one point with Paul. I just assumed she would always have Paul, I guess she does just in a different way.

I think I understand where you got the idea that she imprinted herself with both--since she had this meet and greet inside her head, right? I think that they showed it that way to give us the sense that now Echo can always be with Paul, speak with him, even if it's only in her mind. I can see how that might confuse some folks, but then again, I can't think of a better way for them to show us what's going on inside her head.

wombatzo, Menchi, you both had completely different opinions on Paul's death and I somehow agree with both.. Sure, it was kinda insensitive to leave him dead but it also made the scene very unusual, totally new to the genre. I mean that in every movie we see that "love interest slowly dies in main chars arms" and it was completely unexpected which led to the best moment afterwards.
