A "Dark Night" Indeed

It looks like the Gossip Girl I know and love is finally back in action! The first two episodes were good but by no means great. But now the juice is flowing and the blood is pumping.

In the start of the episode we find that Dan and Serena have finally reconciled. They just haven't quite told anybody yet. The It-girl should know there's no keeping secrets from GG. Or anyone else for that matter.

Duchess Catherine discovers that her little boy toy is playing well with other children. She spots Nate and Vanessa together and starts to put one of her dirty schemes in motion. Meanwhile, Blair and The Lord are having problems of their own. Let's just say they don't play as well as Catherine and Nate. Our favorite Mother Chucker on the other hand can't seem to play with anyone. Stuck on Blair much?

Back to the Duchess, we find her using Blair to get Nate and Vanessa at the party together. The Lord however, runs into Nate and unintentionally foils her plot. But even after Nate cancels on Vanessa she still shows up anyway. Just before the black out and just in time to catch him and Catherine hand in hand.

Nate and Vanessa then go on to talk it out. He confesses everything and she decides she'll wait for him, but that's before Catherine gets a hold of her. Catherine tells her some dirty little threats and Vanessa decides she cares too much for Nate to let that happen. I personally root for this odd couple!

Then comes the Chuck and Blair saga. I think the two little devils are made for eachother, but that's just me. They want each other so bad it's sickening. Not to mention Chuck's love for Blair is so intense it's making his little Chuck Basstard work for no one but her.

Coincidentally, Lord Marcus walks in on their fiasco in the dark just as the lights come back on. Blair swears she thought Chuck was him and tells Marcus he needs to prove he wants her. Guess we shall find out how that passionate kiss ends.

Little Jenny Humphrey gets some one on one bonding time with Eleanor Waldorf but not before she's fired for making some negative remarks about Eleanor's designs. Then Eleanor has a realization that Jenny is right and she is actually becoming a washed out hag. Thus we have Jenny being rehired. Is there a mentorship in the midst?

Oh and lets not forget about Dan and Serena being stuck in an elevator. While waiting for the power they are forced to discuss the things they have been avoiding. Sadly, I believe they have finally reached the end of the road. They love each other but they just can't make it work. Same old story.

I think I covered all the many entertaining events that occurred in this episode. I'm excited to find out what unfolds in the future episodes to come! What's your thoughts?

Great review! I really enjoyed the Blair-Chuck drama though I didn't really get why Marcus was so quick to turn from shunning Blair for using him and not caring about him to making out with her. It was supposed to be because he realized she just wanted to be wanted and he wasn't showing her that, so yeah, it was kind of a sensible reaction, but after what he just saw, I wouldn't think he could jump there so quickly. And wow, what a pathetic attempt from Blair to lamely say she thought Chuck was Marcus because of the accent! She didn't even try to play it off after saying it!
Overall, a pretty good episode, but I'm not looking forward to what I'm assuming will just be more back-and-forth for Dan and Serena... I can only hope they find a way to make that more interesting.

I think the addition of the Dutchess was a great idea. What's more fun that a character you love to hate and feel you need to rant about in print? :) And you knew that she was going to use that info about where N's dad was from the moment they mentioned it in the beginning of the episode. She's so evil and twisted, I love it!
Whether we want to see S and D together or not, they were beating that horse to death! I thought maybe they would have shot more of the episode in that elevator and if so I would have screamed. I love them, but omg get over it!
I just can't get enough of C and B. Again, they're just so evil together its delicious. I know that B loves Marcus' title and everything that goes with it, but I get the feeling that she honestly likes him too; not as much as C though. C needs to get his stuff together....
And once again, Jacki3-O, you put together a perfect wrap up. If I couldn't digitally enjoy GG, I would subscribe to your reviews/summaries page (if you had one).
