I hardly dared hope that "Glee" would actually return to the standard it set for itself back in the Springtime with the most delightful pilot I have ever seen, but after seeing tonight's episode I can actually see the glimmer in the distance. Could it really be the brilliance of "Glee" at its highest potential?? I certainly hope so....
In regards to the actual storyline, I absolutely loved the focus on Kurt. I wasn't too sure where the opening sequence was headed (especially after last week's gripes about the music video feel), but bringing it around for a Kurt-centric storyline was fine by me. THEN the show cleverly reveals that this episode is, in fact, about all the characters, specifically Kurt, Tina (barely), Quinn, Sandy and Sue (OH what a great team!!!), and the Villain Terri.
On that note, I have to talk about Terri. What is going on here? Every time I think I'm supposed to sympathize with her, she says/does something that clearly labels her "Villain". She might as well be twirling her mustache. Similarly, Quinn almost found some humanity in this episode, which was intriguing in itself, but then comes the huge twist and she's back on the Bad Wagon. To top it off, there is some sort of Evil Baby Swap Alliance forming, which I don't get, because Terri is "already" showing and estimated birth dates aren't THAT far off. I guess I'll just have to wait and see where this goes.
Biological quandaries aside, I truly enjoyed this episode, right down to Ken's loving but sad insight on Emma's local news obsession (is his heart already broken or is it my screen?) and the totally awesome football game. Kurt's final scene was perfect - I admit it, I teared up a bit - but I don't quite understand how to take the "How Sue C's It" ending. How long will Rachel's tantrum last? Will the truth (infidelities and fake babies, or "fabies") eventually out? As this episode made sure to include the trademark Will/Emma Awkward Look of Longing, we are sure to head down that road eventually. At the rate of time seemingly skipped between each episode, the showdown should be here shortly. I REALLY wish that the writers would slow down and let us SEE glee club evolving (yes, I would watch them rehearse. choir rehearsals are nothing but drama!). Either way, I'll most likely stay tuned.
P.S. You're welcome for the punny title.
P.P.S. WHO was Curtis' blond friend? She showed up, danced, said a line, and vanished. Amazing!
EDIT: Thank you, sheheroin. The blond is cheerleader Brittany.
