Next Weeks Episode RELEASED: not really.

Yet another day in which i come onto sidereel and my news feed is flooded with the supposed early release of every episode of every current show I watch and I ask myself is there nothing that can be done?

I understand that reviewing all the posts would be an incredibly large task and that the users are just creating more spam accounts but this is getting a little bit out of hand, I have marked countless users posts as "inappropriate" but how can we stop this from happening in the first place?

If anyone has any ideas then post them below, or if you think I am being unreasonable then feel free to comment on that too

They keep making new accounts and I keep flagging them. Theyre also placing the links to the same site on movies, which I've been getting rid of those. Its a chore for sure. I've reported these cats to the mods so hopefully theyll be able to ban them or something.

Yeah it is getting a bit silly, I was hoping that they would add something so we could just choose what we receive in our notifications. Sure I want to know when a new episode has been posted but I dont want to be alerted every time someone makes a post but thats just me, Im sure everyone has there own opinions and thats where letting us choose as individuals helps :)

I was hoping that they would be able to IP ban these fakers. All the links send you to the same site with the same megavideo link hidden underneath some scam that tries to get your details. The megavid link is a fake too Removed due to infringement.

Isn't there some way side-reel can stop one person with the same e-mail address having more than 1 account?

If you banned the email addresses they would just create new ones. Banning the IP would mean that anyone connecting from that router would be banned. Of course they could go to a freinds house, internet cafe or whatever. But it would put a temporary stop to it im sure.

They could easily use a proxy to get around the IP ban.

All links/posts should go through moderation. I know it'd take a long time, considering the amount of people who use this site. Just an idea, though.

I agree, it seems like the only solution. So what if it takes a while for your post to go up?

There could also be guest moderators or some system, where regular users can apply to review posts and make sure that they are not spam. They are now putting up summaries of the next episode and then posting a link to continue reading which takes you to their spam sites.

We could always get around the people using proxies by not allowing anyone using a proxy to post. (Which I already submitted as a suggestion to the admins.)
The moderation team is working as hard as we can to reduce the spammage that is being posted. But I've noticed that even after I go through and delete those idiotic reviews, some jerk comes back and reposts them. (So I wind up cycling through a bunch of the popular shows several times before I give up.) The admins are the ones who can ban ip's and users, and they're not always around when we're having a trollvasion.
If you really want to help though, you can volunteer to be a moderator. The information on how to can be found under the "Get Involved" link at the bottom of the page.
