I sense a decline in humor, do you?

I couldn't help but notice that the past two or three episodes of my lovely show were below my expectations. I don't know if it's just because I've been having a bad time lately on the personal level or that the show is getting a little dull.

I need to draw some points I can't get through:

-Lily would never break Ted and Robin up! I still believe this was unbelievable.

-Barney is becoming so predictable and unfunny. The scene where he cracks up giggling for almost half of the episode about Marshal's pant's storyline was very lame and uncreative.

-Lily stopped being funny since I don't even remember when. Her storyline wasn't special at all.

-Robin's struggle with her job has been going on constantly during this season. It'd have been better if she stayed at Metro News; at least, she made us laugh back then.

-Marshal's over-reacting scenes should stop please. They brought so much silliness into his character; Like the one where he hides at the office just to read magazines.. Oh, so funny!

-Flashbacks and catch phrases are becoming the basis of this show; the Naked Man was funny, but enough with stuff like "Sorry Bro", "Woo", or "Possimpible". They shouldn't overuse them as much. Create real comedy. The whole ensemble has lost their sparkle.

I love the show, and I will still be tuning in every week, but I want to feel like I'm watching something original like I used to!

I want something similar to "TED making it rain" and "The slap-bet"

(Ending this review with hope, and a sigh)

I have to agree with you; the story lines and dialogue in the past few episodes have been far below par. It seems as if, due to Hannigan's growing belly, they are limiting not only her ability to move around freely, but also her value to the show. Barney seems to be far less original than usual, and Marshall's just kind of there (pants-less, i might add). I find it perfectly believable that the writers are returning to a Ted-Robin themed plot; they needed to throw something in to add a twist to the Barney-Robin romance everyone hoped would happen. As far as the flashbacks... one or two are fun, but when the WHOLE episode is composed of various flashbacks it's just too much. They whole thing took place with the four of them just sitting in McLenan's. They didn't go anywhere or do anything of interest... Just flashbacks.
It seems as though the timeworn phrase is serving true once more: It seems that "all good things must come to an end..." either that or reach a peak and decline. Same as you, I hope this doesn't last as it is, but i must say that i have my doubts. The whole core plot to the show inevitably gives it an impending deadline.... We can only wait so long before he FINALLY encounters the "mother."

I somewhat agree with what your saying. Lily as a character has been very one dimensional of late but granted she is physically limited with her pregnancy, with Barney I think they're just trying not to over use him so that the whole show doesn't revolve around him after all it is supposed to be How Ted met his wife, I think that the end of this season is suffering a bit whether it's from writers block or other unmentionable situations but either way I still enjoy it and look forward to every new episode.

I agree, lately it hasn't been quite as good as in the past... I've found myself slightly disappointed after some recent episodes because it seemed like nothing of real substance happened. I'm hoping something good is going to happen with the end of the season approaching, but it will be hard to top things such as slapsgiving... heheh
