Torchwood Planning Fourth Season - Featured

The "Children Of Earth" miniseries ended on quite a downer. So down, in fact, that it could quite conceivably have been a series finale.

Not so, says series creator Russell T. Davies. "Torchwood" will definitely be back.

The recession has hit British television," he explained to TV Guide magazine. "But fingers crossed, it will be a go. We expect things to start to move in January."

Davies has always insisted that he has a plan for the future of the show, and even when the miniseries concluded, he revealed that he even had an idea for the fourth season ready to present to the BBC should they give him a call. Of course, it comes as no surprise that the Beeb is very much interested in an additional season of the show thanks to some stellar ratings which grew as the five-part adventure unfolded earlier this year.

"We have got great ideas for the show," Davies said. "I think theres a further lease on life for many years to come, but certainly for a [fourth season]."

While some might be questioning whether or not star John Barrowman will return to reprise his role as Capt. Jack Harkness, Davies made it clear that this is the star of the show.

If 2010 is too long to wait for a Capt. Jack fix, however, fans have no further to look than "Doctor Who." Barrowman has a role in the final episodes of David Tennant's tenure and will help smooth over the transition of introducing a new Doctor.

"The Waters Of Mars" airs this Sunday on BBC, and will air in December on BBC America.

I have very little interest in this now... I'll probably watch a 4th season, at first at least, but I have liitle hope about enjoying it. Owen, Tosh and Ianto were all it was worth watching for. And I wasn't impressed by Children of Earth. I've never liked Gwen and I think Torchwood (the show, not the organisation) has killed Jack... I guess Rhys is good though. I can't see how a 4th season is going to go (though obviously I do not have the creative mind of Russell T Davies). I can only see it being incredibly depressing...
Though of course, I could still be pleasantly surprised. Perhaps some wonderful new characters will be introduced. Perhaps Jack's trip to wherever will see him return rejuvenated.

I know I shouldn't be saying this but I somehow wish that they could bring Ianto back in the 4th season and make the "children of the earth'' look like it never happened. But hey that is just me.

No, are you kidding me?!! The only reason there is a season four is because of Children Of The Earth. These mini series has hit almost everyone on the head and told them to wake up and watch a great show!! Yeah ofcourse there are alot of characters that have been destroyed because of this whole mess, but im betting that new characters will eventually come in. And don't say Gwen isn't a good character, when infact I actually watched the series for her as much as for the other characters. She will be the link between the old characters and the new characters, but her husband butting in the whole thing is what creeps me out the most! I don't like him that much.
And hopefully season four will be a blast!! *Fingers crossed*.
