Jolie, Pitt Nab Critics Choice Nominations


Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt can walk away with his-and-hers trophies at the Critics Choice Awards next month. The longtime lovers each scored acting nods for their respective films, Changeling and The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, on Tuesday.


Up against Pitt for actor honors are Clint Eastwood (Gran Torino), Richard Jenkins (The Visitor), Frank Langella (Frost / Nixon), Sean Penn (Milk) and Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler).


Jolie will have her hands full with her beau's co-star, Cate Blanchett, Kate Beckinsale (Nothing But the Truth), Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married), Melissa Leo (Frozen River) and Meryl Streep (Doubt).


Button, out Christmas Day, and Changeling are also two of the 10 nominees for Best Picture. The others are The Dark Knight, Doubt, Frost / Nixon, Milk, The Reader, Slumdog Millionaire, WALL-E and The Wrestler.


In probably the year's most talked about race, supporting actor, Heath Ledger came away with a nomination for The Dark Knight. The late star's competition are Milk buds Josh Brolin and James Franco, Robert Downey Jr. (Tropic Thunder) and Philip Seymour Hoffman (Doubt).


Supporting Actress contenders include Penelope Cruz (Vicky Cristina Barcelona), Viola Davis, (Doubt), Vera Farmiga (Nothing But the Truth), Button's Taraji P. Henson, Marisa Tomei (The Wrestler) and Kate Winslet (The Reader).


Winslet's other Oscar hopeful, Revolutionary Road, co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio, was shut out across the board.


Button and Milk led the way with eight nods each.


The awards will be presented Jan. 8 on VH1.
