Another crime show...

As freaking excited as I am to see Nathan Fillion in another show I am a bit worried. I realize that crime dramas are the top rated shows out there, especially with an emotionally unavailable couple in the lead, but I am afraid that Fillion has just set himself up for another short season. I am hoping against hope that this will be different enough from all of the other crime dramas out there. That some how this show will make it through mid season start and continue into the next year. I will be watching, looking for that spark of sexual tension, that unique over arching plot driver, and of course Fillion at his best.

I definitely agree I'm worried about Castle being awful and crashing and burning very quickly. My only hope for it is from last season's new crime show, Life which did look better than Castle in the promos, but also did look like it wouldn't be different enough from all the crime shows to last, but turns out it's fantastic, unique, and fascinating, so I can only hope for Nathan Fillion's sake that Castle surprises us as well. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!

Interesting points, ramberbo; I definitely share all of your concerns and you raise an excellent point that with the overcrowdedness of the crime drama sphere - a new one really needs to distinguish itself in some way from all the rest. From the previews, seems like Castle is going for the goofy crime drama; perhaps a Chuck-like feel. I just can't decide if the show succeeds in this mission; from the previews, I am fearing that it looks like it might turn out to be a little bit...silly/straight up dumb.

personally i think its a rip off of bones, dont get me wrong, i love Nathans work and think most of the characters he plays are played with justice, but i think this shows cutting it too close to the bone.

My fingers are so crossed that Castle will be a good one to add to my week. I'm not big on crime shows so this is definately outside the box for me. But as huge a fan of Nathan, I figure I gotta give it a go. Actually, I don't watch most crime shows mention like Bones, Life or Chuck. I will deffinately be new to this and only watching because of Nathan. So maybe that's good. Perhaps he will bring an audience to the show that woudln't ordinarily watch it.

That's a good point, jackieu0225 - as is the case when many popular actors get a new show, a lot of the hope for the show is on the fans of that person tuning in, and I would think the show producers and writers would take that into account as well to play up what Fillion fans would like to see in a new character for him. We'll see how it goes!

I think it's funny that this is really just a new and improved version of "Murder She Wrote." Really it is. I love it, but that's what it is.
