Ripoff Grey's Anatomy for cops?

ABC has tried this before, after the success of Grey's Anatomy way back when it was still good ABC decided they should use the recipe for every show they create.

first it was greys anatomy is space aka Defying Gravity

now its greys anatomy for cops?

now dont get me wrong im not saying rookie blue is a bad show, in fact i like it but when im watching it i feel like ive seen every one of the character storylines before but in a hospital; and no matter what happens with the weekly cases people always remember what happened with the characters instead. And with characters so similar to the ones on GA theres almost no point in watching it.

just look at the similarities:

Grey's Anatomy / Rookie Blue

Attendings / Detectives

Residents / Training Officers

Interns / Rookies

Storage, elevators, on call rooms / interrogation rooms

it would be one thing if that was it, but even the characters have counterparts

Meredith / Andy (make little mistakes, have troubled childhoods, meredith's father left her and started a new family while andy mother left her and started a new family, alcoholic fathers, meredith follows in her mothers footsteps, andy follows in her fathers footsteps)

Derek / Luke (quickly start relationships with intern/rookie, on the outside seem like mr.perfect)

karev-sloan / sam (dont follow the rules, good at their jobs even though they take their own approach)

george / chris (did well in school, follow the rules, always go by the book)

christian / gail ( suck-ups, would do anything to get ahead)

christina and george / dov (eager to get ahead, smart but underestimate themselves)

bailey / noelle (tough as nails, look out for the interns/rookies)

Relationships:

meredith and derek / andy and luke - i dont care if everyone watching this show is an andy/sam fan (which i dont understand btw luke (eric johnson ) is sooo much hotter and his smilee ahhh haha :D ) but andy and luke's relationship echos mer/der. its perfect in the beginnning, romantic.

along with the main relationship that the show will inevitably surround involving the main character there is also a secondary relationship. (christina and burke / traci and jerry.

also there is a relationship between the new guys. (izzie and alex, izzie and george / chris and gail)

And like always theres a love-triangle involving the main character who the show revolves around.

meredith derek addison / andy luke sam

although most of the audience as ive seen wants andy with sam i have a feeling luke is staying around for a while and i wouldnt be surprised that once andy and sam do finally get together andys gonna change her mind and get back with luke.

im just hoping that the writers change the show around a little bit to differ it from its hospital-set counterpart.

Uh, I do recall that they were *advertising* it as grey's anatomy with cops. That was why I gave the (dismal) first episode a watch in the first place. And then avoided any subsequent episode because it was just bad, bad, bad, bad, bad.

they can advertise it as greys's anatomy for cops all they want but theres a difference between bringing in viewers by comparing it to another show and flat out copying it but putting the characters in a different setting.

Don't forget it's a Canadian show, and from a Canadian perspective it has a lot of subtleties that separate it from Grey's anatomy

i considered that but how many people in Canada watch American shows? i would assume most of them....so why should it matter that its from a different country if everyone there watches shows from here and im sure a large number of people there have heard/seen GA.
