Today, Crunchyroll and Starchild teamed up to announce that Asura Cryin' 2, the sequel to the 13-episode action series that aired in Japan earlier this year, would be joining Crunchyroll's fall simulcast lineup. Starting on October 1st, Crunchyroll will offer subtitled episodes just an hour after the Japanese broadcast. Users who pay for Crunchyroll service will be able to watch the show immediately at HD resolution, while the episodes will become free in standard definition a week later.
Crunchyroll also announced that the full first season will soon be available on its video streaming service, so fans will not have to join in the middle of the action. The show, adapted from the fantasy action novels from Gakuto Mikumo, first aired on Japanese television on April 2, 2009 and ran for 13 episodes. The sequel series continues the story right where it left off, throwing viewers straight into the Asura Cryin' world of ghosts, giant robots, and demons.
