Big Surprise: Fringe gets a full season

The network just announced that it has ordered nine more episodes of Fringe, bringing the series to a full season order. No big surprise seeing how it has been doing great in the ratings, particularly with the 18-49 year-old audience. So maybe, now with a full season set and a second season more likely, Fringe will depart from the case-of-the-week formula and give us something fresh. I think Fringe has a lot of potential to be great. Anyone else out there wanting more from this show? Read more ...

I completely agree. It needs to get out of the "case of the week" thing because we see it all the time and it gets old fast. Hopefully some esoteric drama will unfold, I'm sure it will, with "the pattern."

With a show this complex, it may take half a season or show to start getting to where it is trying to go. If you remember when lost first started airing, they had to set the table for all the weird stuff and the main story line. The first episode did not introduce the numbers or the hatch or the others or any of the main story plot, they had to take time to get there, so I have no doubt now that Fringe has a full season, the story will start to get more focused on what it is really about.

Thing is, JJ Abrams has claimed that Fringe will take on more of a case of the week feeling and not get too complex with the mythology re: Lost and Alias. He has stated he wants it to be able to be more accessible to sometimes-viewers.Problem is...I think what makes his shows special is when he does all of his crazy mythology stuff. I think he will soon realize this though and change up Fringe a little because as is, I too am already getting a little bored with it. But it does have potential.

i'm just happy joshua jackson's character is all in now. I was starting to get sick of the "i'm done with this crap" attitude over and over. I'm excited to see what gets done with this show.

I agree with that. But I also don't mind the "case of the week" thing, I mean Supernatural is a case of the week show and it's done awesome, plus they've also been able to have an on going battle while fighting different things on a weekly basis. But if Fringe breaks away from it I don't mind that either, it's nice to have something different for a change :)
