Lex finally loses it in Smallville - Descent

Tonight The CW will answer the question: Can Smallville get any worse?

I'm betting the answer is yes, but tonight's ep, Descent, actually looks pretty good. Judging from the preview pics and promo videos released by The CW, this ep seems to be about Lex (Michal Rosenbaum a.k.a. the coolest actor on this show) finally embracing the dark side. Intrigue!

I keep wondering why everyone all of a sudden talks as though Smallville is the worst show out there. I remember a few terrible seasons (Seasons 3 and 4) from which the show bounced back. This season hasn't been to bad when you think about it. I am not about to say that it has been the best, or that there has been any significant storyline to speak of, but it definitely hasn't been bad.
One of the things that bothers me about Lex's character on this show is that no matter how many times he heads on over to the dark side, he always returns. Whether or not he embraces his dark side permanently from now on is up to the writers.
For all of the 'fans' out there who have hated this season, here's hoping that the 8th and final season will have you eating your words. The show has had a great run - it has had its ups and downs - but it always keeps us entertained. :)

I truly hope 'toddyboy' that your right and season 8 is less than s*** but no matter how you look at it the storyline of the last season (if not the last 3) has been a dramatic step down.I miss the times in the first few seasons where it was just episode by episode about Clark and his 'personal growth' in his teen years, as corny as it seems. At least it was better than this incessant 'will they? Wont they?' (Turn Lex evil, make Clark superman, kill off Lana, kill off Lionel, kill off Chloe, make Kara Supergirl, get better writers) It may just be me here but if they solved the last example it would make all the others disappear.

If they make it quickly done and complete, it wouldn't be good as they have a lot of connecting to catch up on, not just for Clark to learn to fly but Lois and Clark, I can't see the point of Killing off Lana, Lionel and Chloe, what will that end up, nothing, just pain for the characters, but also if you don't like one of the characters, its wrong as its the writers job to create the story and their nature...
yeah it will have to stop some day but they need to be very creative to bring what the fans want, because its all coming to an end and people are moaning and that is not good.
things should start happening now...not fast but not also slow.
I actually think Clark should learn to fly in one of the last lot of episodes as he has to save everyone so he has no choice but to become the man of all dreams.(superman).

I've only seen the intro to Descent then the video streams dry up. Frustrating! I've been waiting impatiently for this episode, so I hope it will be available soon - like the next half hour. Looks really good. As for what to do next, tricky. I'm not as down on the last two seasons as others seem to be - I thought Season 3(?) with the witches was the low point. I like the idea of moving the whole shabang to Metropolis and developing the characters there. I wouldn't kill them off - they're the life blood of the show, just let them grow. There's a whole world of stories to be told in Metropolis, so let Lionel and Chloe etc be part of them. Besides, my sad life would be even sadder if the show ended, especially if it ended weakly. I'm excited about the future - I think the writers can take this great show forwards.

Again, this was another semi-spoiler.
Please do not post any kind of spoilers in your article titles!
Between this post and the RIP Lionel post, the two biggest part of the episode had been given away before i got chance to watch it, and it lessened my enjoyment of the show.

amazing episode, smallville was boring wid non stop Metorite freaks comin in season 2,3,4 but over the seasons it has developed quite good. i'm also happy tht lana's character is finally over n she was no were to be seen in Descent, she was da most boring character in Smallville (would prefer Clark to go out wid Chloe). i hope the show goes on for another 3 more seasons. cant wait till next week. WOOOO

WHOA... Didn't see that coming when lex killed of the purity he had left. the story lines have become ever more confined and yet still exhilaratingly Mysterious therefore you want to keep watching as the plot thickens... Whom ever created the scripts for the past 2 seasons, I Solute You!! Oh and About time that annoying Lana is out of the plot, because now we can finally see Clark and Lois (Maybe Chloe) Get together!

Yes, I agree this was by far the best episode I've seen in a long time. I hate to get my hopes up, but it seems it's all finally coming together. Everything we've hoped for since the beginning, and everything we've been whining for the past several months/years, is finally coming to be. I'm hoping they keep on this current plotline. This is where Smallville needs to go.
On the downside, there were scenes in this episode in which the characters simply didn't seem to think on the level that even normal people would think, let alone what the characters with all their past experiences should've considered. Case in point, the scene at Isis. Chloe just got clobbered, and after Clark wakes her up they completely forget the fact that she JUST got clobbered. Any average person after being assaulted upon regaining consciousness would immediately begin worrying that the assailant was still there. Clark and Chloe had no reason to believe that the attacker had left, and every reason that she was still there having not finished the job. I mean, Clark does have superhearing, as he demonstrated at the Planet, but for some reason he doesn't always use his supersenses when necessary. In this case, he could've simply listened for her breathing, and take care of it all.
A very interesting series, to say the least; but it's frustrating to repeatedly see the characters be temporarily "dumbed down" just to prolong a certain plot point.

if anything i remember time and time again Smallville has maid some good eps,i think that know that most of the good charecters are leaving (lionel),(Lana),(Lex),(Martha),the show to me has lost a bit of its spark it used to holmsome and kick ass now its about random quests for clark its like loosing interest of true traditional superman fans theres no f-ing suspence and the story doesnt have you as gripped like it used to in previous eps ,but i still watch it the shows been great since the first to now ,i remember a time in the first eps where there was always a lesson for clark to learn but know its more about main stream commercial use and making it more fantasy wise then holding it ,to the true show it should be ,i really cant believe its comming to an end ive seen smallville since the pilot and believe me, i was told by the moms about this show and i was sketchy at first cause i couldnt believe another superman show especially live charecters it was a trip but i was captured in the whole idea that it would be dope and it was still is,and i hope the last season goes out with a bang and introducing superman .........

I recently started watching smallville again but I started watching from season 1 I've seen this show from season 1 to where we are right now with the show twice. Now I'm doing it for a third time to see the diffrences in the acting and so on.I agree with some of you but not all of you. Yes Lana doesn't really have a point in the show anymore but its nice to have her there. Lex is and will always be Clarks nemises or whatever. I think they should bring Martha Kent bac for a couple of episodes because clark needs some motherly love and attention sometimes. thats all i got for now

Love me or hate me for that but I LOVE SEASON 7 :D I love the story, I love the episodes and the last three were just great, great and even greater :))) I never lost interest in Smallville, it's the best show out there... Great characters with love, respect and something called "feelings" which I just can't find on crap shows like gossip girl, there's no background at all... Sorry for all Gossip Girl fans, wouldn't wanna attack you, just say'in what I think and take Gossip Girl just as an example for 10000 shows to illustrate what I mean because there it is pretty clear :D
