The two tracks the show is running on are moving right along at this stage as we have Doctor Minami working his deal to stop the spheres while Joey and his group are deep inside the Skrugg base. With Heroman and Joey tackling Kogorr directly, their powers getting put to the ultimate test at the moment, it's a nicely intent little battle since Kogorr has gone all super-Skrugg with his look and abilities so he has a nice boss level feel to him at this point. The battle picks up well from the last episode and Kogorr still comes across as a decent if fairly bland main villain.
The battle gets fairly intense as Joey is seriously knocked around and Heroman ends up evolving a fair bit in the fight because of what happens. It's obvious that his abilities are dependent on a lot of things and Joey may not be able to control it, but seeing Heroman go to a berserk level this early on is interesting. Even more amusing is that this form reminded me a lot of the Firestorm character with its flaming head. The bond between Heroman and Joey is going to be an area that I suspect will be explored a lot more, especially after the way the two deal with the fight in this episode. And it's one that they need to examine when it comes to their sense of justice in defining just how far they'll go to stop something like Kogorr and the threat he and the Skrugg possesses.
