On March 7 or March 8 depending on how you want to think about it, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was the host of Saturday Night Live. With skits like "The Rock Obama" and one with Dwayne as a Hawaiian, the episode was great. I am not a fan of Johnson so I was very skeptical of this episode. And maybe that's what made it great. Going in with lower expectations made the episode more enjoyable.
In January, when SNL came back from it's holiday hiatus Hugh Laurie was the host. Being that Hugh had experience in skit shows (A Bit of Fry and Laurie) I was expecting the show to be fantastic, but it ended up as one of the worst episodes of SNL I've seen. To put it simply, they had a skit about singing lamps. I watched the Hugh Laurie episode with high hopes and that made it seem even worse than it was. So, maybe the best way to watch SNL is to think that what your going to watch for the next hour and a half is going to be horrible.
