I agree with you. Last I heard, NBC was unsure whether or not there would be a season 5 and Tim Kring was to be meeting with the execs to pitch a plan for it towards the end of January. While the ratings are in the dumps (low enough to get any network TV show cancelled without a second thought), NBC is currently struggling as a network. If you look at their lineup, Heroes and Chuck are really the only shows that are not comedy/sitcom or news. Also, almost every show on the network is struggling. This could give Heroes a chance, unless NBC finds pilots to start new shows. I think there will be a season 5, but it might be moved to another night and/or to the 10:00 timeslot. In addition, the cast and crew have all said that this season ends on a huge cliffhanger that should powerfully set up all the characters to go a new direction for Volume 5. All I know is that I hope the show doesn't end for good like that. Maybe the writers have confidence in a future for the show?

Heroes is very good. But I have to say that season 4 hasnt been at it's best. It's still been a good season. Ugly Betty is also at the end of it's 4th season and has recently been axed (although it is very good, the ratings still dropped). That was an example at how there are great shows that eventually get canceled. Hopefully Heroes gets picked up for a 5th season, it all depends on the upcoming episode and the ratings.
