Dollhouse - Unanswered Questions Remain

I was sad to note that in the season finale of Dollhouse, there was no burning cliffhanger which means that it could just as easily be a series finale. (-sad face here-)

Despite this possibility, several unanswered questions still remain:

What made Echo and Alpha "evolve" whereas the other dolls seem to remain in their primitive state, so to speak?

Why is Ballard so obsessed with Caroline?

If Dr. Saunders is a doll, what is the significance of the suggestion she made a few episodes back to allow the dolls to retain closure in their lives? If she was a doll, would she not need closure too?

Who ELSE is a doll? (Topher???)

---

What do you guys think?

Will we find the answers to our questions in a second season?

Here's my take on your questions:
1. I think Alpha's and Echo's abilities to reach beyond the child-like doll state is due to the fact that Alpha (can't remember what his original name was supposed to be) and Caroline were both very determined people. Alpha was a determined killer, and Caroline a determined activist. Perhaps it is just impossible to completely erase such underlying characteristics.
2. Not totally sure why Ballard is obsessed as he is with Caroline, other than she was the one face of the Dollhouse originally presented to him and she reached out to him once for help. November and Victor were the ones who actually played significant roles in his life.
3. At the time Dr. Saunders made her suggestion, she didn't know she was a doll and therefore wouldn't feel she needed closure.
4. At this point, anyone could be a doll!

It is hard to know for sure what Fox has planned, but I would really, really like to see a second season!

I would like to see a second season, this season was really good. There are 2 question you forgot to ask1) what is going to happen to Echo/Caroline2) what is ballard doing? is he know a doll or a guardian?
I think it was really sweet how he asked for November to be free not Caroline. I think he was obsessed with caroline because it was his way into the doll house. I mean No one belived him that it was real and then the video turned up and that opened up new doors and questions for him.If DR Saunders was the favourie doll before Echo how come she doesn't have small memorys of her acivitys before becoming the DR. Vicktor, Echo and Sierra all had memories of their jobs, why not her?

AHHH too many questions !!!!!

it was only the dolls that had been acting out that needed closure. Whiskey/Dr. Saunders was and all the dolls other than Echo, Sierra, Victor, and November were apparently doing just fine.
i wonder if topher has some prior connection to Whiskey/Dr. Saunders. He was practically crying when she found out she was a doll and asked her "don't you want to know who you are?" or something.

Also, why did Topher make it so Dr. Saunders hated him? I think that there must have been some prior relationship there. Hopefully it will be revealed in season 2.I am kind of bummed that they ruined Victor's face. It seemed like a throwaway when Alpha could have cut one of the other dolls that we don't see very much, ie Tango. What will happen to Victor and Victor and Sierra? I can't wait for the next season (cross your fingers)

i thought (as a medic) that it was pretty obvious Dr S was a doll. She acted like that all the time anyway. Considering the punishment some of these 'dolls' take, (and I am including sexual abuse in that) as a Dr she did virtually nothing to help her patients, and the moral ethics of what she was concerned with would have her unable to sleep. I think T is also one - quite possibly they all are.I also think Caroline is Ballard's sister. He's fiercely protective of her - more like an older brother to a sister than a lover.

Haha I was completely oblivious to the fact that was the finale... it didn't really feel like it even though in some ways now that I look back at it there were subtle undertones... mainly just that Alpha seemed to be dealt with somehow.
