I did not like this episode. To me the entire 41 minutes and [] seonds of the episode felt two dimensional. Now normally I can barely find fault with a Criminal Minds episode - I am just that big of a fan - but this one just fell flat for me. I kept expecting the drama and the action to pick up for the emotions to run higher for the tension to mount but instead it stayed relatively mediocre throughout. When JJ stopped the team from going home at night right at the beginning of the episode I thought that this was going to be one of those nail-biting, on-the-edge-of-your-seat-are-they-going-to-get-there-in-time UNSUBS. Instead the entire episode felt like a bad horror movie. From the moment we met the final victims I knew the team would find them before anything horrible happened. I was never in fear for their lives - I never doubted that the team would fail to make the connection in time. I think part of this was because we never saw the UNSUB escalte in the episode. Without that escalation, we lacked the normal drama. The whole episode seemed to consist of waiting for someone to arrive or something to happen.

One good thing though was that we had a minor insight into Prentiss' life with her mentioning a date. For me it rang back to the times when Elle's love life was discussed providing a brief diversion and minor insight into one of the characters. However, I did feel the lack of backlash from the events of the previous episode was strange. Whilst I wasn't expecting it to be focal point - as Emily confronted Reid about his guilt at the close of Minimal Loss - I was expecting at least a passing reference either to Emily's injuries or Reid's emotional state. The fact that these issues and all concerns about Hotch's hearing were non-existant just didn't ring true with me.

I agree. I wanted some more storyline about the characters. I did love the part where Garcia says "You, my fine furry friends, are welcome." And Hotch replies "Remind me to have her drug tested." :-)

i had that feeling as well perhaps hotch has had enough and he wants out and i also agree how can emily and reid be ok straight after what they went through at least with hotch they kept up his story line after he was bombed he lost his hearing it does not seem realistic to go from an emotional state like that to normality

It feels like the show has no depth, I know they tried to in earlier episodes, but it does feel dry and empty. The episode with the compound was pretty cool, but it did still seem dry. There's no REAL drama, it feels like everything is way too scripted, like robots in a play. Every episode seems to contain more cliches than the next, oh well.

You're talking about how they make no references to Emily's injuries, but if you guys notice how far along JJ is in her pregnancy, you'll notice several months have probably passed. And they said about Hotch's hearing that it'd clear up in a week probably. All in all, you have to notice that time passes between episodes, it wouldn't make sense to bring up a black eye that's been healed for two months.
