was this called "Viruallity"

I saw the pilot of this on Hulu. the star was the guy from "New Amsterdam" and the plot was like a reality tv show, "Big brother" in outer space.

Virtuality is indeed a different show that hasn't been confirmed for a full-season pick-up yet, and unfortunately it's not looking like it will be.
Defying Gravity, on the other hand, is basically Grey's Anatomy in space - it's from the Grey's creator and pretty much looks like the same relationship dramas as the focus. Virtuality sounds better, you say? I'm pretty sure it would be if only actual good shows got to stay/get on the air!

funny the plot is almost similar, i thought abc picked up the show from fox and tweaked it. what's not mentioned in the synopsis is the "reality show" twist on the program. people from earth watch the crew go thru their daily lives on board and watch their video confessions/diaries. too bad, i was looking forward to the possibilities of this show.
Virtuality SynopsisAboard Earth’s first starship, the Phaeton, a crew of 12 astronauts is on the verge of embarking on an epic 10-year journey crucial to the survival of life on Earth. They have reached the “go” or “no go” point, the critical part of the journey where the crew must commit to traveling to a distant solar system millions of miles away. If they “go,” they cannot turn back. To give the crew a measure of privacy as well as a vital recreational outlet on the long journey, the ship has been equipped with revolutionary virtual reality modules. Each crew member can assume adventurous, avatar-like identities as they explore self-created worlds and scenarios, or simply spend quality down time.
