All hail the mighty barmaid!

As a fan of these books, I was both excited and worried to hear they were making a show based upon them. In my experience, NEVER go into watching a movie or show expecting to get an accurate portrayal of the books. But, from what I have watched of the pilot, they have done a wonderful job of bringing it all to life. Some of the acting is a little stiff, but Anna Paquin makes a wonderful Sookie. A few of the conversations seemed to even be word for word, so I must say I now have very high hopes for this. Fans of the books should not be disappointed with the outcome. All in all, I believe that like the books it's fans will find that the true reason to watch it, is to see a supernatural world from the point of view of a person with a lot more normal outlook on life (even if she is psychic). Sookie is down to earth and lovable. Besides, vampires in a small Louisiana town, what is not to find intriguing in that?

I agree, they did a very good job of bringing the books to life and I think that all the little differences you see keeps you interested in a story that you already know.
