Chuck Season 3, Episode 3: 'Chuck vs. the Angel de la Muerte' Review - Featured

With two strong opening episodes, Chuck has been off and running in this third season. Even the ratings have been great. Would episode three be on target like the others? Survey says: yes.

Oh, it wasn't a perfect show, but it was fun to see Devon -- Dr. Awesome -- getting some major attention and almost a cliffhanger ending. More after the jump. Light up a double corona cigar and let's go.

Same old, same old CIA mission. Oh, Chuck, how you have changed. In some ways. He actually finds the missions 'old hat.'

This mission involved protecting a former Communist dictator, Premier Alejandro Goya, a Castro type (sans bushy beard), that Casey has personally tried to kill three times. Oops. His bad. So much for the Angel of Death rep. Armand Assante was in full el porko mode, i.e. hammy, mode.

I'm a big fan of the show. But is it just me or are the new intersect flashes starting to get really annoying already? Before the intersect felt more like a background gimmick, allowing the characters and their relationships to be the real stars of the show... now it just seems a little too much front and center.

I'm okay with the new flashes so far because it's fun to see Chuck pull out new skills, but I do agree that it's become really front and center on the show. Maybe after a few episodes where we see Chuck acquire skills he'll just have them and the flashes won't have to be so essential to everything happening.

kendra perhaps we should keep in mind that these abilitys are new and the mythology behind them has to be established in order to continue the character development it allows new fans to get a sense of how the intersect works while slowly getting back to the relationships between the cast whom new fans might be unaware.of.
