With music prevalent in the world of Hannah Montana, there's no doubt its stars will jump right into that industry as well. Emily Osment, the 17-year-old actress who plays the title character's best friend on the series, is certainly following that path. First there was co-star Miley Cyrus, then co-star Mitchel Musso, and now it's her turn.
USA Today reports that Osment's still-untitled debut album will be released in March next year. She co-wrote all the songs that will be featured, and is currently recording them for the album's launch. It will be produced by Matt Squire, known for backing up bands such as Taking Back Sunday, Panic at the Disco, and Boys Like Girls.
Obviously, Emily Osment is going for a darker sound in her songs. She describes the tunes as "definitely pop, but with an alternative-rock edge. It's music you'll want to play in the car with the windows rolled down."
What's more, she collaborated with Tom Higgenson of the Plain White T's, along with Eve 6's Max Collins and Tony Fagenson. The latter two helped out in the track called "All the Way Up," which is set to premiere this August on Radio Disney and online.
The Hannah Montana starlet has already shot the video for the song, with her friends from the band Push Play appearing on it as well. It's also been confirmed that Emily Osment has signed up with Wind-Up Records for the effort.
"I am so excited I am getting the chance to finally share my music with everyone," Emily Osment said of the partnership. "I have been playing guitar and writing songs since I was little so it seems like this album has been in process for years. The opportunities and amazing people I have been so fortunate to work with have literally been a dream come true. I can't wait for all of my very patient fans to hear the music that's been such a huge part of my life for the past two years."
