'Stargate Universe' and 'Sanctuary' Renewed - Featured

SyFy puts two season orders at the same time, one for "Stargate Universe" and another for "Sanctuary". Per Hollywood Reporter, the cable announced that "Universe" will get a second season in Fall after completing the first season in April. "Sanctuary" meanwhile, is slated to return with the third season also in Fall.

"Universe" which took over the Friday night slot from "Battlestar Galactica" has performed quite well for the cable, averaging 2.6 million in the first half of its season 1. "Col. Young has left Rush on the planet. The implications of that, the real division that will cause amongst the crew, the judgment of those characters and the actions are going to have a big impact on the show," Executive Producer Robert Cooper explained what to expect in the new season.

In the meantime, "Sanctuary" gained steady viewers of 2.2 million in Fall. It follows the adventures of the beautiful, enigmatic and always surprising Dr. Helen Magnus, a brilliant scientist who holds the secrets of a clandestine population - a group of strange and sometimes terrifying beings that hide among humans.

Both shows receive 20-episode order and have begun production for the next season in Vancouver.

Unless the entire cast dies in some sort of fortunate (oh, sorry... UNfortunate...) accident... and is replaced. But then, it would end up being an entirely different story in need of an entirely different plot.
Oh wait... that would be a GOOD thing. xD

I feel that way about Stargate Universe. I don't like most of the characters. I'm glad Rush is gone. Hope he dies.

I see SGU as stargate for grown ups. so long as you look at the show as someing completely different its a damn fine show at first I was on the fence but it is slowly but surely getting better

I quite like Stargate Universe and I'm glad it's being renewed. I think people should stop giving it such a hard time just because it's different from the first two iterations.
PS: Rush is SO going to be back.

yes but they will be able to see rush as an enemy better when he comes back. and really the show is just a slow bloomer. It's trying to be different from the other two so it has to build on itself more. which is great I was getting tired of every single tense moment being watered down with quips and jokes.

The show is getting better. They have not introduced any human-like races. They introduced aliens that were interesting but the stargates didn't plant themselves out there. And where did the ancients that were on the ship. The ancients were more advanced than people from earth so why leave such an amazing ship! More needs to be explained. Rush is going to be back. Stay Tuned...

the reason the ship was left alone was because the Ancients learned how to ascend and no longer needed space craft. I am still watching the show and am going to withhold judgment until the end of season 1.

Ugh.
Firefly, they cancel (yes, I'm still pissed a decade later), Pushing Daisies they cancel, Jericho and Dead Like Me and Deadwood and Arrested Development, they cancel.
But *this*? This they renew.I hope they get herpes.

of all of those Jericho is the only one I still care about. I mean of they suddenly renewed firefly I would be pretty happy. but the rest of those not so muchand arrested development actually had a fairly good life as shows go.

i dont care what you say about dr rush he is definately one of the best characters in the whole damn show!!!! and yes you bet your asses he will be back! I don't think that Rush will be the one to come back as the enemy but rather young will be in for some trouble.......Some of the other ppl definately need some major refining or just die and leave the show....... Firefly definately awesome fucking show! i own the whole season and movie.... Back to the comment about not needing space craft for the ancients who ascended.... why the hell do they always seem to be using the stargate to travel/ leave planets? and what about the entire episode in SG1 where the ancient was exiled to and empty planet and could only escape by going through the gate with sg1?

well I figure the exiled ancient was a special case. Maybe the other ancients weakend him some how made it so he didn't have the energy to go where ever he wanted. What I wonder is why pick a planet with a stargate at all for a prison in that case I would just strand them on an obvously naturaly hostle planet with no need for a star gate and no reason for anyone who valued there life to ever ever go there.
As for Rush, of course Rush is coming back we all see that he is coming back for crying out loud they left him on a planet with not 1 but 2 means of esscape. I for one don't like him I don't even like to hate him. He feels he is smarter than everyone else and he feels that makes him better and can use and abuse other people. If I where in a life and death situation with someone like that he would suffer a "hunting accident" the very first chance I could arange it or even better make his actions known and handle him in front of the others. I'm hoping with him gone people can finaly realize they are all in the same boat and start paddeling in one direction a little better.
