After a LONG wait, a new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm is finally here! Can you believe it's been nearly 2 years?! Although the highly anticipated 7th season doesn't premier until Sept 20th on HBO, I was able to check out the first episode today. As a long time fan of the show, let me just say up front that the fans are going to be pleased.
As you may recall in the last season, Larry and Cheryl separate (much to my personal dismay). Season 7 begins with Larry taking care of his sick girlfriend, Loretta (played by Vivica A. Fox). He's hoping she'll get better ASAP and of course not because he's concerned about her health, but because he wants to break up with her. Typical Larry right?
Later, Larry and Jeff pay a visit to Marty Funkhouser's sister who is played by the enormously funny Catherine O'Hara (Best in Show, A Mighty Wind) as a favor. Catherine does an amazing job and helps to create some truly cringe-worthy moments. I think her style of comedy fits in well with Curb Your Enthusiasm.
There is also a touching moment between Cheryl and Larry that I think fans will enjoy, as well as a quick appearance by my personal favorite, Wanda Sykes.
The big hype for Season 7 has been a possible plot involving the Seinfeld cast. It may come in future episodes but there was no mention of it in "Funkhouser's Crazy Sister". I guess that gives us all a reason to keep tuning in!
I'm so happy that this show is finally back. Checking out episode 1 only wet my appetite for more episodes. Curb Your Enthusiasm has one of the best casts and writing crew in television and I'm so ecstatic that season 7 has started out strong. Check out Curb Your Enthusiasm Sundays at 9:30 pm on HBO.
