It's hard to juggle love and career at the same time but Ed Swiderski has managed to do so. According to Ed's father, Edward Swiderski Jr., the winner of The Bachelorette season 5 is still working as a technology consultant at Microsoft Corporation --- the job he had previously left the reality dating series to save.
"He still has his job," Edward Swiderski Jr. told his local Monroe News newspaper following ABC's Monday night broadcast of the finale.
Ed's job became the subject of controversy on The Bachelorette. Prior to the season's fifth Rose Ceremony, Ed voluntary left the show after receiving a phone call in which his boss told him he would be fired if he didn't leave the show and report to work. Consequently, Ed's decision left Bachelorette star Jillian Harris crushed.
Two episodes later, however, Ed returned on The Bachelorette and asked Jillian for a second chance at love.
"I realized that I made a huge mistake, I got home and I could not stop thinking about you," Ed told Jillian upon his return. "I felt like I need to re-prioritize what I'm doing and I think I need to be here with you. I want another shot."
Of course Jillian accepted Ed back and kept him in the running until he was the last man standing. On Monday night's finale, Jillian accepted Ed's proposal and the rest is history.
On the other hand Ed's father acknowledges that Jillian and Ed's relationship got off on a rocky start but has continued to grow since the finale was filmed two months ago.
"They had so much chemistry from the beginning," he said. "She's an exceptionally fine girl and they are incredibly in love."
"It was hard because people would ask me about it all the time," Edward Swiderski said of the proposal, which his family knew since mid-May and had to keep it secret. "But it was even more challenging for Ed and Jillian. They were able to go out [as a couple] for the first time last night in Los Angeles."
