Even though we hate to admit it, we like to see things in chaos. Sure you feel a bit guilty after you get your schadenfreude turned up high, but deep down you sort of enjoy how the universe falls apart. Sometimes I think this is what happens when you're a police officer, trying your best to investigate the worst of the world. Though you'd like to help, there are just some things that you can't control.
On FlashForward, we're focusing on the Los Angeles FBI, as it hopes to maintain its sense of authority amidst the global blackout crisis. Unfortunately, it seems as though they hardly have a clue at all. Actor Courtney B. Vance who plays the FBI Director Stanford Wedeck sat down with actress Christine Woods aka Agent Janis Hawk to discuss what little they know about the show.
"I speculate on the grand scheme, "What caused this? Why did this happen?"" Woods told IESB.net. "[...] And, I want to know how everybody knows each other."
Surprisingly comforted by the element of surprise on the show, Courtney B. Vance revealed, "I'm refreshed by the fact that I really don't know a whole lot about what's going on. I have an idea about my character and his wife."
Not knowing what lies ahead seems rather odd considering this is a serialized show, but it seems to have worked so far. Can these characters really pull through in the end and find their way through all the flash-forwards?
As for her character, Woods approved retaining certain mysteries. "All the information you find out about your character, for some reason, ends up being some hidden secret that you kept from people."
Apparently, both actors signed on for about seven years and knew that creator David Goyer had plotted out the whole season of Flash Forward. It's probably like seeing the future already. Vance explained, "Once I heard that, even though it's not on the page for any of us right now, it helped to know that they know where they're going."
If only we could say the same for the characters.
