None of us were expecting an episode on the emotional level of last week, but even so, this week's episode of How I Met Your Mother was something of a letdown. After CBS spent all week hyping "ROBOTS VERSUS WRESTLERS!" the reality turned out to be about 10% robots and wrestlers, and 90% bad jokes about people who attend snooty cocktail parties. With its rare departure from the show's signature blend of flashbacks and cutaways, this episode often felt like it was ganked from a completely different, less funny show.
First, let's focus on the good stuff. We learned this week that Lily's finally coming around on the idea of having a baby, much to Marshall's delight and Barney's horror. Ultimately she agreed that the day the gang spots Barney's doppelganger will be the day she and Marshall can start trying to get pregnant. Speaking of doppelgangers, the callback to this season's earlier episode "Double Date" was a nice tip of the hat to continuity -- we've met Lesbian Robin, Moustache Marshall, Stripper Lily and now Mexican Wrestler Ted. Also? Truly inspired cameos this week, but I'll get to that in a second.
