
Vampires! In Venice! That's pretty much a formula for instant success right there. Especially if the vampires in question are sultry vixens with a penchant for parasols and frilly white lace. And so, for the first time in ages, we got a bit of Gothic horror mixed in with our regular slice of traditional sci-fi, even if the results were a bit uneven.
Explaining away last week's steamy denouement as a bit of Post Traumatic Stress sexiness, 'The Vampires of Venice' brought Amy's husband-to-be Rory onboard the TARDIS as The Doctor attempted to put a bit of spice back into their relationship. Where better to rekindle the flame than the romantic city of Venice, then? Obviously though, this being Doctor Who, romance had to take a backseat as the time-travelling team quickly discovered the city had been placed under quarantine by its patron Signora Rosanna Calvierri.
