'Parenthood' premiere last night: Are you joining this family?

So did you watch Parenthood's debut last night?

I'm rooting for this multi-generational family show, even as I recognize that its mixture of drama and comedy might not appeal to folks who like their shows to fit one genre or the other. I thought the acting by Peter Krause, Lauren Graham, Mae Whitman, and Craig T. Nelson was terrific.

Krause is better-cast here than he was as the angsty lawyer in Dirty Sexy Money. It's easy to believe the uneasy relationship he has with his roaring, papa-lion father (Nelson excels at that sort of thing without going over the top). And the show's prominent subplot - about the emotional difficulties of Krause's young son Max (Max Birkholder) - is a potent heart-breaker.

I was apprehensive about " Parenthood" . Apprehensive because of the star studded cast. Much like feature films with a blockbuster cast. SO excited to see all the BIG names it must be fantastic! Then you go see it { i.e. "He's just not that into You", "Valentines Day "} and you are left feeling underwhelmed. NOT THE CASE ! I loved this premiere. I am so already drawn in . I want to know more about these characters this family. Much like Modern Family its very much a family that is current and believable ! Lauren Graham, Craig T. Nelson, Peter Krause, just knocked it out of the ballpark for me. I am a Fan !!! Lets keep this on the air in a land of " Jersey Shore", "Real Housewives", etc... its an infusion of TRUE raw talent, writing included that is just what I've been missing in primetime lineup ! Congratulations N.B.C. !!!!
