Aaron Johnson and Anton Yelchin Join Shortlist to Star in Marc Webb's SPIDER-MAN Reboot

The shortlist to star in Marc Webb's Spider-Man reboot just got a little longer. 24 Frames reports that Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass) and Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) are now among the contenders to play Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the upcoming superhero flick.

Johnson's an interesting choice because he basically played Peter Parker in Kick-Ass, but without the superpowers. He's demonstrated that he can capture the enthusiasm and pathos required for the character. But this raises the question of whether audiences want to see him give the same performance. Then again, I don't know if audiences want to see another Spider-Man movie that re-tells the same origin story they saw back in 2002. So Johnson would be kind of a redux on top of a redux.
