House fans are somewhat divided as to whether or not they like the idea of an ex-wife from Wilson's (Robert Sean Leonard) past returning as his new girlfriend. Never mind that said girlfriend will be played by Lost grad Cynthia Watros. We already reported that she's staying put for multiple episodes, but Entertainment Weekly reports that House creator David Shore is toying with the idea of extending her stay.
"We're talking about that," he says. "It depends what's going to give us the most bang for our buck dramatically."
Does this mean something permanent for Watros, maybe in lieu of Jennifer Morrison? Not really, Shore insists, because it was never about numbers on House.
"When good people come on and they work out, we try and make it work longer," he says. "It's ultimately about the storylines."
Is it pure coincidence, however, that Watros' Sam Carr just happened to be a doctor and an expert in radiology? Maybe, but Shore admits that "anyone who is going to be involved with Wilson is going to be a little bit different. We wanted her to be worthy of Wilson's strengths and worthy of Wilson's weaknesses."
More importantly, though, how does his best friend House react to the whole thing, seeing that the last one (Cutthroat Bitch/Amber) didn't work out handsomely.
Says Shore: "This isn't just House being protective of Wilson, this is him being protective of Wilson against somebody who arguably knows Wilson as well as House does. You have these two people who apparently care about Wilson, although they've both made some dramatic mistakes in that regard, kind of fighting over him."
Watch out for Watross on House on the show's April 19 episode.
