What did you think of tonight's episode of THE OFFICE, "Sabre?"
We had to wait a long time for an all-new episode of The Office and, as we saw tonight, there's been some major changes brewing at Dunder Mifflin. They are now a division of the electronics company Sabre, where, according to the cheesy video hosted by Christian Slater, they will soon taste rainbows. Seriously though, the initial changes Sabre is making (like installing site blockers and taking away the plastic cups) really don't seem that bad. Michael predictably freaked out at the first mention of change, but I think there's probably going to be much more difficult adjustments ahead and he should probably pick his battles carefully. At least he came to his senses after seeing that unemployment has reduced David Wallace to an unshaven mess whose only prospect is developing a children's vacuum called Suck It. As Michael puts it, "There are very few things that would make me not want to team up with David Wallace and Suck It is one of them."
Kathy Bates (as new boss Jo Bennett) only appeared for a few minutes, but she made quite an impression. She's reminded me of Paula Deen crossed with Mom from Futurama (I think it's the hairdo). She seems like a tough lady who won't tolerate any nonsense from Michael. She was kind of scary when she said "I would take to the end of the day, if I were you."
As for the other storylines, I thought Jim and Pam were cute when they first got to the daycare, but then things went downhill. Their whole conversation with the daycare guy was pretty obnoxious. I was much more interested in Erin and Andy, who they seem to be setting up as the new "will they or won't they" couple. Their Miley Cyrus song parody was great, except now I have that freaking song stuck in my head.
Here are my favorite quotes from tonight's episode:
Michael: Too much change is not a good thing. Ask the climate.
Michael: That is not David Wallace I remember. That is some weird creature that lives in David Wallace's house.
Kevin: Just because you have liquid that doesn't make it a toast.
After tonight's episode, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens because I think Kathy Bates and Sabre might give the show a much needed boost. What do you think of Dunder Mifflin's new boss? Do you like the direction the show is taking?
