Rob Marshall Confirmed for 'Pirates of the Caribbean 4'

Now that "Nine" is in post-production stage, Rob Marshall has the time to start thinking about his next project, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides". Marshall has confirmed his participation in the Disney movie franchise during a recent DGA screening of "Nine", AICN reported.

Moderator Nora Ephron turned to Marshall during the Q & A session, asking about his next project. To this Marshall responded, "Ya'know, it's something that I was offered and never in the world thought I would do but then I was like 'why not?'... I'm doing 'Pirates of the Caribbean."

In fact, Marshall has met Johnny Depp who has also confirmed in September that he is set to reprise the role as Jack Sparrow. Both Marshall and Depp reportedly are "excited to work together".

The words about Marshall directing the fourth movie have spread as rumors in July. But even the production status was still uncertain back then. With his public announcement about directing "On Stranger Tides", Marshall has debunked Bill Nighy's statement last month that the fourth movie's fate is still blurry.

"On Stranger Tides" is based on Tim Powers' novel of the same name. Jack is in the quest to find the Fountain of Youth with the help of Captain Barbossa. Disney eyes to release the movie in the U.S. in Summer 2011.
