The ex-fiance of The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss died after sustaining head injuries from a fight outside a strip club, according to Atlanta TV station WSBTV.
Ashley Jewell, also known as A.J., "received a serious blow to the head," Atlanta Police Lt. Keith Meadows told the station. Jewell was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Jewell appeared frequently on the latest season of the Bravo reality show. Cameras recorded him and Burruss merging their families together as well as the heated arguments between Burruss and her mother, who was vocal in her disapproval of their relationship.
Jewell and Burruss ended their engagement earlier this year.
Burruss reacted to the news on her Twitter feed, which featured a photo of her and Jewell in the background. "im just in one of those moods where i don't wanna talk, i don't wanna b held & told its gonna b ok. i just wanna cry myself 2 sleep, alone," she wrote. "I could never n a million years imagine this happening. please pray for AJ's children. that's who im the most concerned 4."
Burruss' Housewives cast mates also took to Twitter to express their condolences. "RIP AJ from the real housewives of Atlanta! My thoughts & prayers r with Kandi, his children & family," wrote NeNe Leakes.
Kim Zolciak tweeted, "please Pray for my dear friend Kandi and her loss. I adored AJ and he will be missed dearly."
Lisa Wu Hartwell added, "Everyone please keep aj's family and@kandiconnection in ur prayers."
Lt. Meadows told the station police have "a person of interest" they hope to question about the event. No arrests have been made.
