Alex Graves, who directed the feature-worthy pilot for 'Fringe,' has signed to helm Fox's next ambitious genre pilot, 'Terra Nova.'
'Terra Nova' is the show produced by Hollywood heavies Steven Spielberg, Brannon Braga ('24') and David Fury ('Angel') about a futuristic family who travels back in time to a pre-historic era crawling with dinosaurs and other dangers. Graves and crew will begin filming the pilot this summer, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Fox has ordered 13 episodes of the series.
According to some script pages snagged by EW, the pilot opens in the year 2149 A.D., with a group of settlers planning to leave their apocalyptic world by time traveling to a calmer, greener place in the past. They use some futuristic tech to jump back in time and join a colony of pre-historic people to help build a new civilization.
Graves has also directed episodes of 'The West Wing' and the pilot for NBC's short-lived 'Journeyman.'
Fox hopes to debut the series the week after the Super Bowl, according to Deadline.
