If you were expecting an update at the top of the show on Alex Wong's possibly game-changing injury, we didn't get one until it was time for the judges to cut him -- or a different dancer -- at the very end of the episode.
Instead, the show kicked off with a rather static angelic-themed group number choreographed by Mia Michaels that made me miss Sonya Tayeh's more dynamic numbers.
Next, the judges celebrated their Emmy nominations, announced yesterday morning. The show received three nominations, including one for Mia's choreography and Adam Shankman's production of the Oscars set a record for Emmy nominations. (In case you weren't aware, yes, awards shows reward other awards shows.)
Tonight's guest performances included Natasha Bedingfield singing her new song 'Touch,' and the cast of 'In the Heights' doing '96,000.'
