"Is anybody paid enough?" Kate said during her guest-hosting stint.
Filling in for Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who's on maternity leave, she gamely spoke about her family travails as part of the show's Hot Topic segment, defending her decision to continue the series despite all of the media hoopla and her pending divorce.
"I could stop and I would still have all of the flack and the lack of a paycheck. I'm a single mom, and now more than ever I need to be out there working hard," Kate said. "My focus is supporting my children and whatever way that [is]... I'm going to do it."
The mother of eight was less forthcoming with her feelings about estranged husband Jon's girlfriend, 22-year-old Hailey Glassman. Asked how she feels about Glassman being around her children, Kate simply called the situation "difficult."
"For the sake of my children, I'm going to continue to take the high road because that's the only way for me," she said, adding that she had a meltdown at home over the weekend.
Also during the show, Kate chimed in on Madonna's tribute to Michael Jackson at the Video Music Awards, Serena Williams' profanity-laced outburst at the U.S. Open, fellow reality family, the Duggars, who are expecting their 19th child, and asked guest Victoria Beckham if she still feels sexy after 10 years of marriage.
Beckham said yes, saying it helps being married to David Beckham.
Kate will guest-host The View again on Tuesday.
