House of Wax

I am not sure if I will be watching House much longer. It is not the same writing as when they started. House is past brilliancy and even the occassional charm. He is outright, selfish, filthy and degrading to all who come in contact with him. I expected more of Hugh Laurie. He is a brilliant actor, but House is slowly becoming a cartoon, see through character. I don't blame Wilson for leaving. I would want to move on also.

But isn't the point in House md. and his character in general, that people first see him as insulting, then realise he's actually brilliant and *then* when it's too late (this may take years, as Wilson proves), people realize that despite being brilliant, he really *is* just a jerk? Seems to me your reaction is quite programmed. As Madtv stated in one of their shows "--House is written by men for women who like abusive men" [sic] ... :D My point is, he's always been mean. How is it surprising that *gasp* he actually is mean?

People are not one dimentional and so my statement is explaining that yes House was always mean, but there were other sides to him, you could see when he was hurting or even surprised, or touched by someone. Now all you see is anger.

Well, I'll admit that he had better reasons for his actions in the first three seasons, but I wouldn't stamp him with death sentence just yet. He might come around if this Cuddy thing develops any further (or at all). Or not. I think he hurts others to his own amusement, not because he's angry. Then again, that's not really a good thing either..

He hurts others to distance himself from them and to stop them getting close and seeing him for who he really is

I totally agree! House was always mean, but never onedimensional. And today (while watching Ep.3/S5) I was thinking the same: He's a cartoon, a decal of himself. They've to change the script, something is really, really going wrong this season. It's becoming worse from episode to episode.I'm getting bored.

I agree. For the first time when I was watching last week I found myself saying the same thing, if something doesn't change soon I wont be watching much longer. It has changed, before he was a bully but not at the level he is now, and it is getting hard to keep watching.

You guys dont think that maybe this is a plot development? House has lost his best friend and is upset..
I dont know for sure.. but i think as he gets to know the others he'll chill out a bit.

Plot, you expect these people to consider something like a plot. Wow, sometimes I wonder why people give up on actually trying to write television that makes a person think. Then I manage to come to these boards and boy am I rewarded.
Yeah, here is a surprise, House is mean. Wait, I have another one that probably escaped your grasp, the sun will come up tomorrow. Seriously people, ask yourself this " am I ever mean"? Now I can answer that each and every one of you have been. Here is the cool part though, ask yourself "Was there a reason I was mean"? Wow, most of you will discover that you were aggravated, nervous, worried or one of the other numerous reasons you can be mean.
So, use your brain, do you think that the same thing might apply to House?
I am enjoying the absence of Wilson, I hate that they are trying to replace him with someone else. House and Wilson work so well together, I wish they would cut this new group of fellows and make the show realistic again.

i think the show is losing its appeal with every episode this season..its just sooo boring. u'd think after 4 season we would see more of who house atcually is rather than this facade that he has. the whole wilson/house saga was a great way for the writers to create another dimension to house but they've just missed the mark. another problem i seem to have is the new team they don't interest me as much as the orignal..they just seem sooo bland. after season 3 i hardly watched house until the whole wilson/amber/house story line (which was brilliant btw..the last episode title 'wilson's heart' touched me before i even watched it) and i thought this season they would explore house n wilsons realationship more indepthly than what they have done....im sorry to say but its just lost its spark and like vihervredi said only the HUDDY relationship may be able to save this show....bring back CHASE/CAMERON N FOREMAN.
