True Blood: Comparison to Book (SPOILER ALERT)

I've read the first three of The Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Mysteries. I'm very interested in seeing how other people who've read the books feel about how the TV plot is going so far....

I'm curious about how they're going to deal with LaFayette. Are they gonna kill him off? He's such a good supporting character in the series, not so much in the book.
Who is in the 4th coffin? The book has it as the young vamp that Bill brought to meet Sookie at the bar...
I also disagree with the way Sookie just announced that she'd had sex in the bar. That was entirely out of character for her.
I also notice the animosity between Bill and Sam is a bit more intense in the series than it is in the book.
I'm also not too fond of the way they're dealing with the vampire blood. Sookie has to drink A LOT of vampire blood at some point in the books and Jason is getting really messed up on one drop in the series...I like to think that Sookie will develop a little bit of super strength and be able to kick some butt on her own without having to rely on the big Weres, Vamps and Shifters in her life.
Are we gonna get to meet the Meinad?
They HAVE to bring in Bubba. That is such an awesome little twist...
If I think of more I'll post later....

Oh, and what about Tara. I'm about halfway through the 3rd book and I've only just been briefly introduced to a character named Tara who was Sookie's school chum and was dating an older looking vamp and hanging out at Club Dead with Sookie, Elcid and the King of (Louisiana?) I think she's a good way to give people who've read the books something unexpected to look forward to in the series.

I haven't read the books, but i was wondering what the car scene in the book was like, because i was reading some peoples posts on other forums, that they preferred the car scene from the novels...

I have just finished the eighth book, and it seems that Bill isn't being mentioned as much in the plots. I understand these books are to be about Sookie, but I guess I would prefer that her and Bill be more interactive than what they are. I hope he does'nt disappear altogether.

As of right now I am a little disappointed because they were doing so good to be begin with and now they are skipping a lot that I would of liked to see from the book. The way they are twisting some relationships are starting to get on my nerves to I find myself less excited about upcoming episodes as I was in the begining how they were sticking to the core of the book now they are slipping...so sigh...

The problem with Bubba is that he is a real person, meaning they'll have to get a damn good lookalike for it to work out.
And the Maenad will definitely be introduced, it's an important part of the storyline, AND is a big part of Sam's character development.

Ah, just found that not only has the Maenad been confirmed for the series, but she is being played by Michelle Forbes. Gasp, she won't be a Trekkie anymore!

I like Bubba's. It will be a treat if he is in the show. Although I like the books, i think the show is better in the sense that it is not a one-person prespective. (Book is all abt Sookie - not that i do not enjoy). I just find Alan Ball makes the whole thing more interesting. Sometimes, Sookie can be rather whiny and she is not a perfect person in the book which makes her character real and believable. But i do not think it will well just as well in the show. For e.g. in Bk 4, 2 to 3 chapters are devoted on a one-day event which will be a drag in a show.

I am surprised at how close to the book they seem to be sticking. When I first heard about True Blood, I thought, they would keep the names but change the story line completly.I like some of the changes they have made, like Layfette but some I found confusing, the whole sam, tara, jason thing. I quite like it though. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series however it seems like they are focusing entirly on the first book for this series so I wonder if that will continue ie. 2nd book for 2nd series etc.... would be interesting but would mean the show would have to run for years.
