* The Secret Life of the American Teenager (8/7 CT ABC Family)

Just last week, everyone was embarking on their summer plans: Ben was heading to Italy, Jack to football camp, Grace to a medical program and Amy to summer school. And now in the Secret Life world, summer's over and it's time to go back to school. For Ashley, this means her first day of high school, while for Amy the start of the new school year may mean the end of her and Ben. As for Amy's divorcing parents: George finally tells Anne about a secret he's been keeping from her.

* Sugarland: Live on the Inside (8/7 CT ABC)

Country-music fans already know about Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush, the dynamic duo who make up Sugarland. This special could expand the group's fan base as their acclaimed live show is captured here by director Shaun Silva, who recorded the country-pop duo's performance at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky., in high definition with a 20-camera shoot. Songs include "Settlin'," "Stay," "All I Want to Do" and "Something More."

* Invitation Only (9/8 CT CMT)

Fans get to experience Brad Paisley up close and personal while sitting comfortably on couches just a few feet from him in this episode of the concert series. Paisley performs, answers fans' questions and cracks jokes in a small studio in Nashville. His set includes "Mud on the Tires," "Online," "Then" and a stirring rendition of the title song from his latest CD, American Saturday Night.

* Jon & Kate plus 8 (9/8 CT TLC)

The now-controversial series returns from a five-week hiatus that was spurred by the sad news that Jon and Kate have called it quits. But the show must go on (really?), so in the first of two new episodes, Kate and the kids head to the beach while Jon stays home to manage a kitchen renovation. Then, at 9:30/8:30 CT, Kate plans a backyard campout sans Jon. Sigh.

* The Closer (9/8 CT TNT)

Teen actress Sosie Bacon, daughter of Kevin Bacon and series star Kyra Sedgwick, begins a multiple-episode arc in a guest-rich episode that also features Frances Sternhagen, Michael Arden (Kings), Cynthia Watros (Lost) and Bruce Davison. Tonight it's all in the family when Brenda's mother (Sternhagen) and mischievous niece (Bacon) pay a visit. On the work front, Brenda reopens a murder case when she surmises that a father (Davison) may have offered a false confession to cover for his schizophrenic son.
