Why I won't be watching The Hills anymore

The Hills has been one of my guilty pleasures since the beginning. I love all the crazy drama and them making it freakishly clear who we are to root for and who we are to hate. BUT.... this week I have decided to give up my habit cold turkey. Why? Because the same gendered stereotypes just keep popping up! This week, Brody came out, guns blazing, with the classic, "Guys will be guys" line about Doug. This is after he rubbed it in to Lauren that Stephanie went behind her back to go out with Doug. Why is Stephanie a backstabbing ho while Doug is just "being a guy"?? If these retro standards are all The Hills has to offer me, I will be getting my trashy T.V. elsewhere.

I absolutely agree! I was really annoyed by Brody's statement as well. There are things people need to understand, but it should be more like, "hey, people make mistakes," not, "guys will be guys," and girls should know better. I don't think it's that huge of an issue that Doug and Stephanie went out since Lauren barely dated him and decided they didn't fit at all, but yes, it's not kind to go out with a friend's ex - for girls AND guys! So, yeah, Stephanie should've recalled there are plenty of other guys out there, and Doug should've too - considering they just went out and he was supposedly a really nice guy.
Anyway, agreed all around that this show is just silly and not really worth the watch anymore... I think they're all rich enough anyway to carry on without their MTV paychecks.

Well I don't know if The Hills itself is sexist, but I get the feeling Brody can be from time to time. Have you ever caught his old show Princes of Malibu when he was still friends with Spencer? The guy is a douche.
I think that sometimes the producers edit The Hills to just make fun of Lauren and make certain people look pathetic. Maybe that's why they left what Brody said in? I dunno..
