High School Musical 4 Marks Return to Small Screen

Troy and Gabriella may have graduated, but High School Musical will be back for a fourth installment of the hit teen franchise.

Disney announced today in a press release that they are bringing the movie back to the Disney Channel, with a new cast of characters and a cross-town rivalry. It is scheduled to begin production later this year to premiere in 2010.

In a statement, Gary Marsh, president of entertainment for Disney Channels Worldwide, said: "The High School Musical trilogy introduced a new generation to the celebrated genre of movie musicals. In crafting this next iteration, we've challenged the entire creative team to raise the bar again - and create something truly worthy of this extraordinary global phenomenon."

High School Musical 3: Senior Year has grossed $250 million at the box office worldwide to date.
