Eureka's executive producer Jaime Paglia has claimed that the show's reboot will "expand the possibilities".
In the recent season premiere, the programme's characters time travelled and discovered that their lives had changed when they returned to the present.
Speaking to Blastr, Paglia said: "This is the year where all the things we love about our town will remain the same, but we're going to turn things upside down for our characters in ways that will be incredibly fun to explore."
Paglia added that the "surprise" of the premiere will be explored further in the second episode.
"I think you're going to see just how much possibility there is in our show," he continued. "It's a chance to meet all of our characters and get to know them immediately. But then be pulled into a whole new storyline that will be really fantastic for the long-term fans of our show, but be completely accessible for anyone who is going to be coming fresh to it. We're really going to expand the possibilities of what we've done so far."
Eureka continues on Fridays at 9/8c on Syfy.
