So Janice might have a power
... another character with an ability. Why do the writers need to make every character that's on the show have powers, can they not have more characters powerless like HRG?

Most of these guys with powers don't appear to be able to think their way out of a paper bag.

Uh. None of the bad guys have powers but Sylar o.O And also, Matt should have known he had a Kid, his wife was pregnant when she left >>;
And you can't be 100% sure Janice has powers. Though its most likely, since they seem to just be handing them it, but it could be like a parent had them or something. As we all know, Nathan wasn't born with a power, and both his parents had them. So you can't be sure it takes 1, both, or any to make a kid with powers.
