Cancellation Buzz: Greek's in Danger? Say It Ain't So! - Featured

Since Greek is returning to ABC Family this coming Monday, January 25th, I felt it necessary to share this somewhat surprising/upsetting news.

In a recent "Ask Ausiello" column, Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello responds to a question about Greek being in danger of cancellation, and substantiates this rumor!

From the column:

Question: Is Greek really in danger of being canceled? -Lisa

Ausiello: I heard rumblings to that effect, but it wasn't until ABC Family basically renewed every single one of its scripted programs except Greek this week that the show's bubble status really hit me. I'm told ABC Family execs will be looking very closely at the ratings for the show's premiere on Jan. 25, so, please, tell everyone and your sister to watch it. Source

Honestly, it hadn't even occurred to me that Greek was considered 'on the bubble', but with breakout hits The Secret Life of The American Teenager and Make It or Break It, the show is clearly no longer the net's poster child.

While you could argue that Greek has actually arrived at a logical concluding point (Casey, Evan, Ashleigh and Cappie should be finishing up college soon enough...), I'd like to see the show survive just a little longer. It's only in its 3rd season!

What do you think? Would you be sad to see Greek go? Will you be watching the premiere this Monday?

It would break my heart to see Greek go, and while ABC Family does have a few other great hits going now, I don't think that's any reason to ditch Greek.
It seems to me Greek is one of those rare in-school (whether high school or college) shows that could actually transfer easily enough into the post-college world as the characters graduate... except, of course, that would make the show title irrelevant.
But I do think Greek has a few more years in it following the older kids out of college, the younger (and never-graduating Cappie) still in college in a possible and still awesome way.
So to sum it up, YES, I would be sad to see it go, and I'll definitely be watching on Monday!

If you check yesturday's Ask Ausiello, he gives a shout out to our campaign: or www.savegreek.com twitter: savegreekWe are sending ABC Family postcards and red cups to put pressure so they DONT cancel Greek. It deserves a proper ending: Graduation. And we won't get that if it is canceled after this season. So please, spread the word about how fans Everywhere can do their part!!
