Friends: Where Are They Now? - Jennifer Aniston (#1)

By process of elimination, guess you've already guessed that the #1 most successful Friend is...

Jennifer Aniston

And it's not even close!

On Screen:

For a few years there, Jennifer Aniston did not have any on-screen credits that really screamed movie star. Derailed, Rumor Has It... (2005) and The Break-Up were not total failures, but all 3 were critically panned and only The Break-Up grossed a respectable sum at the box office. For the record, I thought all 3 were better than the critics gave them credit for...

Aniston also starred in a few indies that were well-received (Friends With Money and Management), though her real breakthrough has come quite recently. Near the end of 2008 she had a guest appearance on 30 Rock and starred alongside Owen Wilson in the smash holiday hit, Marley & Me ($141 million dollars).

And...already in 2009, Aniston is a part of the ensemble cast of He's Just Not That Into You, which while not necessarily a critical darling (44% on RT) has grossed $70 million to date and is still bringing in dough. She has 2 additional credits listed for this year. Clearly the girl has no shortage of work opportunities.

Off Screen

We already were seeing more of Jennifer onscreen than the other Friends...and we certainly hear more about her off screen. In fact, I'd say that if anything the woman is such a popular topic in every publication from US Weekly (like every day) to the New York Times Magazine that it's kind of excessive.

Getting divorced from Brad Pitt in 2005 was just the beginning (can you believe that there was a time that Brangelina did not exist?!)...and we're still talking about that ("what Angelina did was very uncool")...

Since the divorce, Aniston has had highly publicized (and turbulent) relationships with both Break-Up costar Vince Vaughan and currently, musician John Mayer. Mayer and Aniston has been on/off, but just this Sunday, he accompanied her to The Oscars (where Aniston was also a presenter...none of the other Friends can lay claim to this honor either).

Hotness Retained?

Aniston just turned 40, so...seems like yes.

Previous Entry: #2 - Courteney Cox (Arquette)

Yes, Jen is awesome. I miss all of my FRIENDS family though haha. But I loved Jen last night on the Oscars. She was very classy and funny. I can't wait until she is nominated, I know it's only a matter of time.

Jen is just a fantastic fantastic actress. Period. She's got great comic timing, dramatic chops, versatility in many genres, and is just a charming, talented actress all around who draws the audience to her.
I say with or without the controversy that is thrust into her face every single day (the over-spoken and over-exploited Aniston/Pitt/Jolie issue), she's a successful lady who deserves all the accolades.
