Film, television and music stars flocked to Hollywood Wednesday night for the "The 35th Annual People's Choice Awards,".
The CBS ceremony was hosted by Queen Latifah and returned to the Shrine Auditorium for its typical star-studded live show format, following last year's writer's strike-friendly, pre-taped program. Stars such as Adam Sandler, Kate Hudson, Robin Williams, Hugh Laurie and Reese Witherspoon showed up to accept thier awards at the slightly subdued ceremony.
This year People magazine, in celebration of its 35th anniversary, teamed up with the award show to present the first-ever Favorite Star Under 35.
The Dark Knight's crazy box office success translated into a whole bundle of People's Choice Awards on Wednesday night. The film took home the trophies for Favorite Movie, Favorite Action Movie, and Favorite Cast, and Christian Bale also won Favorite Superhero and part of the Favorite On-Screen Matchup award (shared with the late Heath Ledger).
"On behalf of all of the cast from the movie, thank you very much to the fans," said Bale. "Here's to Heath."
Carrie Underwood was another big winner of the night, taking home three awards, including the Favorite Star Under 35 trophy. She also won the awards for Favorite Female Singer and Favorite Country Song.
On the television side, Hugh Laurie and House took home a couple of awards, along with Christina Applegate and Ellen Degeneres.
