FOX Commits to Air All 13 Dollhouse Episodes - Featured

Fresh off of the news that this past Friday's episode of Dollhouse was up a quarter million viewers and the report that with DVR numbers, the premiere was up 50%, FOX has announced that they intend to air all 13 episodes of the second season of the show.

Don't start thinking that FOX is going to be ordering any more episodes after this (adding 50% to 2 million is still uh, just a paltry 3 million viewers) - though they say they have yet to decide anything, but it's nice to know that they won't be screwing over the fans this time around (10th time's a charm?).

Says FOX:

"We're going to run all the episodes. We're not saying we're happy with those numbers, or accept them, but we don't have to overreact. During [November] sweeps we might have to jack up the numbers a little [with other programming], but we plan on completing the order for this show."

Also:

""If you cancel it, you're an asshole; if you renew it and then don't put it back on, you're an asshole," he said. "I'm still paying for 'Terminator.' 'Dollhouse' has a small rabid fan base that in the world of social media seems bigger than it is. We gave them another season knowing full well we were going to burn in hell if we pulled it."

Since Joss Whedon knows in advance that he will get all 13 episodes, he plans to give closure in this season's 13th episode.

Hooray!

I cannot watch the show when it airs so I am stuck waiting for it to come up online since I do not have DVR either. Otherwise I would be glued to the TV set watching Dollhouse. I love this series!!

So do they take into consideration the online viewings from hulu.com and fox.com? I'm sure there are many people who watch the show that way, and those numbers would give the ratings another boost. Though I tune in to Dollhouse every week, there are many other shows I have to watch online, and it would be nice to know that each viewing is counted regardless of format used.
I still think there can be a chance of a third season if the fans keep on FOX about it by writing to FOX, signing petitions, joining fan sites, etc.

It is nice knowing Joss plans on giving us closure but I do hope for another season. And, yes if they had not given us another season they would have burned in hell for all of eternity. As for the 3 million viewers number, how about moving the show to Tuesday or Wednesday where there is little to no competition? Friday, for me, there is Smallville, Defying Gravity, and Sanctuary. Of course I still watch all of them but if they are harping upon cable/tv numbers? then competition may matter?
